New Year Cycling

today, Sunday, the first real cycling of 2010 and our poor withered muscles certainly felt it. Not many miles - about 24 - but lots of up, with the highest point 400 metres, above Blaenafon. Three bikes, only one of interest, Carol's Moulton APB which did all the climbing but some of it very slowly indeed - bike or muscles? This unclear. Our efforts rewarded with soup and beer at the Goose, 2009's first hill climb venue. We finish the weekend tired, aching but determined that this is the start of our 2010 fitness campaign. 1. Hope you and all the riders had a good ride today at Cusop, did you see any Family Rolt related people or have they all moved on now?

  2. A great day out and a cold one! After lunch at the Pandy in Dorstone, we visited Rolt's old house in Cusop, accompanied by Geoff and Mollie Moore in their old Talbot and Philippa and her Raleigh powered by a 4-stroke 48cc Cuccioli (Ducati!) which got all the way up Dorstone Hill!

Talking to a local, we discovered that Rolt's house had also been owned by a rival of Armstrong (the convicted poisoner). It was this solicitor who reported his suspicions of Armstrong to the Police which led eventually to Armstrong being executed. After a somewhat gruesome discussion of the case, we all left the scene in something of a hurry!
